Interview: Qforest Wedding Planner
Designing Weddings Through the Stories of Love

Many weddings begin with a theme, a color palette, or visual references.
But for Qforest, design begins with something far more essential the story of love.
A wedding is not merely a beautiful day; it is the prologue of a shared life that deserves to be thoughtfully designed in structure, emotion, and meaning.
This interview offers an in-depth look into the philosophy, process, and identity of Qforest Wedding Planner, led by Piriyah Techasurangkul, who views weddings as spaces for storytelling rather than simple decorative settings.

Q: The Beginning & Story of Qforest
Piriyah: Qforest was born from a passion for storytelling. We believe that every love story is beautiful, yet many of those stories are not clearly expressed on the wedding day. I originally worked as an event designer and noticed that weddings were often constrained by formats rather than content.
That realization led me to transition into becoming a Wedding Planner focused on design and spatial decoration. I wanted weddings to feel like the perfect prologue to each couples love story.

Q: What was your original intention when starting the brand?
Piriyah: I wanted couples to feel both relieved and proud.
Relieved that they could entrust us with the responsibility, and proud when their guests walk in and immediately sense their taste and personal identity through the space.

Q: Where does the brand name come from?
Piriyah: Q stands for Quality, which is the foundation of everything we do.

Forest represents lushness, nature, and sustainable growth like a forest that grows steadily and with strength over time.
Design Identity & Signature Style

Q: How would you define Qforest in three words?

Timeless, Emotional, Sophisticated

Signature: Fluid, organic structural forms combined with floral arrangements that have rhythm and breathing space never overly dense, yet dimensional from every camera angle.

What makes Qforest different:
We dont focus on more. We focus on proportion and balance.
Lighting and shadow play a key role in elevating the design, giving the décor a refined, almost magical atmosphere.

Q: How do you draw out a couples identity and translate it into a wedding concept?
Piriyah: We use a technique called The Life Story Interview.
Instead of simply asking what colors they like, we explore meaningful moments such as:
Their first date or proposal location
Books, films, or music that shaped their relationship
Their shared dreams for the future
Moments when they feel most like themselves together
From these answers, we distill an Emotional Core, which becomes the foundation for the weddings key concept.

Q: What is your design process from moodboard to execution?
Piriyah:
We start by translating the Key Concept into a Moodboard that includes colors, textures, emotional tones, and references, ensuring alignment with the couple.

Next, we develop 2D floor plans, elevation drawings, and 3D sketches, detailing proportions, materials, and technical specifications so both the production team and the couple can clearly visualize the design.
We then move into production fabricating structures, tailoring fabrics, sourcing flowers, and sometimes creating mockups of key elements such as the main backdrop to ensure quality.

Finally, we execute the on-site installation, with strict control over timing, lighting, and fresh florals as the final stage.

Q: Are there any materials or techniques you specialize in?
Piriyah: We specialize in complex backdrop structures and lighting as a design element.
We often use warm lighting and precisely angled spotlights to create depth and highlight floral installations and material textures such as fabric, polished metals, and marble surfaces.

Working with Wedding Venues

Q: How much does the venue influence the décor design?
Piriyah:
One hundred percent. The venue is our canvas.
We must consider architecture, wall colors, ceiling height, and even the direction of natural light. Great design enhances the venues strengths and subtly conceals its weaknesses.

Q: How do you evaluate and design according to a venues space?
Piriyah:
We request floor plans and elevations and conduct an on-site survey to measure key proportions. Using 3D modeling software, we simulate layouts and calculate backdrop proportions relative to ceiling height ensuring the design feels grand without overwhelming the space.

Q: Which venues are easiest and most challenging to design for?
Piriyah:
The easiest are flexible halls with high ceilings and neutral tones, where we have full control over lighting and ambiance.

The most challenging are venues with overly ornate architectural details or strong existing colors such as older hotels with many columns where the décor must harmonize without clashing or obscuring the venues character.

Wedding Décor Trends: This Year & Beyond

Q: What décor trends are emerging?
Piriyah: Couples are embracing luxury that comes with environmental awareness using local flowers, recycled materials, reusable fabric structures, and thoughtful production methods.

Another trend is Deconstructed Design moving away from a single backdrop and instead creating multiple decorative elements throughout the space, forming immersive installations.

Color palettes lean toward deep tones combined with earth tones such as terracotta, rust, sage green, and midnight blue for warmth and depth.

Q: Which style do you consider timeless?
Piriyah: Elevated classic design with lush, high-quality florals.
White and green palettes, clean structures, and soft lighting never lose their elegance, no matter how much time passes.

Q: Where do you see the future of wedding décor in Thailand?
Piriyah: Décor will evolve into interactive art installations not just photo backdrops, but spaces guests can walk through and experience.
Digital and interactive elements like projection mapping will increasingly blend with physical décor.
Real Wedding Stories

Wedding planner

Q: Which wedding impressed you the most?
Piriyah: A wedding inspired by the couples love for galaxy-themed films.
We designed the backdrop and elements to feel like stepping into outer space, using structure and lighting to create depth and atmosphere. It proved that even small personal stories can lead to truly extraordinary designs.

Q: Have you faced unexpected challenges on the job?
Piriyah: Yes one of the most challenging moments was dealing with strong winds just hours before a ceremony, which affected floral structures.

We had to quickly reinforce hidden structural supports and relocate lighter floral elements to safer positions. It required both technical expertise and artistic judgment.

Q: Which project best represents Qforests identity?
Piriyah: A project where we used lush green foliage to create a forest-like backdrop with waterfall elements. Light filtered through the leaves, creating a spectrum of light and shadow.

It perfectly combined storytelling, green materials, structural design, and lighting techniques a true expression of Timeless, Emotional, Sophisticated.

The Deeper Role of a Wedding Planner

Q: What do you do when couples dont know their wedding theme?
Piriyah: We start by asking what they dont like to narrow the scope.
Then we focus on emotional tone before colors or flowers, making decisions clearer and more intuitive.

Q: What roles of a wedding planner are often overlooked?
Piriyah: We dont just organize events we manage emotions and expectations.
We act as mediators between different tastes and as quiet emotional support for everyone involved.

We also prepare multiple contingency plans Plan B, C, and D for everything from storms and power outages to supplier issues and timeline control.

Wedding planner

Q: What is the most important task couples rarely notice?
Piriyah: Timeline management on the wedding day.
Coordinating kitchens, MCs, photographers, and musicians to keep everything flowing smoothly so the couple never has to worry about time is one of the most critical responsibilities.
Advice for Couples Choosing a Design Team

Q: How far in advance should couples book a décor team?
Piriyah: For brands specializing in custom design with in-house production, at least 9-12 months in advance is ideal.

Q: What should couples prepare to achieve a professional result?
Piriyah: A clear budget range
Visual references both what they like and dislike, with reasons
Photos of the actual venue
A willingness to share their personal love story

Budget tips:
Focus on high-impact areas like the backdrop and entrance.
Reduce the number of décor points but elevate their scale and quality.
Choose seasonal and locally sourced flowers to reduce costs.

Vision & Future Direction

Q: How do you want Qforest to evolve?
Piriyah: We aim to become a Design Studio & Production House, creating high-end events beyond weddings, while reducing waste and encouraging reusable décor components.

Q: What would you tell yourself at the start of your business journey?
Piriyah:
Trust your vision. Dont be afraid to decline projects that dont reflect your brand. True branding comes from clarity of identity and remember, perfection isnt about never making mistakes, but about resolving them with grace.
